The Stuyvesant Heights Oral History Project

  • The MMSL Block Association Oral History Project brings together our past (seniors in the community), present (long-time/current residents), and future (youth / new comers), in a multimedia, multi-generational initiative designed to preserve the rich history of, the this historic African American neighborhood, Stuyvesant Heights community as told through our seniors
  • The MMSL Block Association Oral History Project builds a stronger, more cohesive community; bridging generations; and creating a vital historical record within our historic landmark neighborhood.
  • The MMSL Block Association website and Oral History Project also offers an opportunity for the community to grow together in collaboration, as various members bring their talents to its creation, launch, and maintenance.  The multi-faceted project also carries an educational component, as volunteers who have no experience with equipment will receive training from their more experienced counterparts. We encourage our teens, who are comfortable with new technologies to get involved.
  • The MMSL Block Association Oral History Project will ensure that the wisdom and history as told through our seniors will not be forgotten.
